I absolutely loved this book. It was a nice clean and beautiful romance. This book had so many layers that made this story unique and addicting.You have a man Issac, who takes his son on a trip to give him one last summer before he gives him devastated news. They stumble on this orchard that is run by a man Einars and his daughter Sanna. Sanna is a different type of women. She is tall, straight forward and not your typical flowery heroine. But the way Sanna loves her land that has been in her family for decades is beautiful and will have you loving and wishing you could walk and hang out at the orchards.This story had so many layers, there was a little mystery, romance, heartbreak, healing. It really had everything and not to mention the way the author made the details of this orchard and the trees and the smells make you feel like you had been vacationing there an not just reading.This book also wet my taste and smell. I wanted to taste what they grow. I wanted to be at the table when the items were cooked and taste and drink the what they land produces.This book was such a great story for everyone! This one is a #MustRead
This book was sheer perfection.There was loss. Love. Family. It's just beautiful, and at times, magical. There was so much woven into this book, that I found myself completely immersed. The descriptions of the orchards (a bit of a weakness for me since I was raised on one) I felt like I was there.I completely identified with Sanna and her need to be alone. With how honest and blunt she could be and how she preferred nature to people. For me, she was a really unique heroine-one that I haven't really read before and it made her that much more interesting to me.I loved Amy's writing so much, I bought The Coincidence of Coconut Cake and Luck, Love and Lemons as well.
I love Amy's books and this was no exception- perfect fall read and had more depth and quietness than her previous two novels, and the romance reminded me a little of those in Ann Rivers Siddons books.
I read this book in two days - the story and characters pulling me right in. Amy has added a bit of magic to this book that makes the reader believe in happy endings. Another winner that I can't recommend enough!
I loved the characters in this book. The storyline was excellent. But most of all, I love the setting. Sometimes books, especially romance, can become so repetitive that it feels like you are reading the same book over and over again. But this setting of an orchard, and learning about the cider-making process, it was like a breath of fresh air. It was a relatively clean book, some swearing but still pretty clean. An enjoyable read.
Really beautiful book that stayed with me well after I read it. Excellent characters. Wonderful feel of being on an apple farm and revering the old trees. I could taste the cider as I read it.
Having enjoyed the author's last book "The Coincidence of Coconut Cake" I was excited for this new book - even more so as I live in Wisconsin and am very familiar with Door County. While the story was fast paced and easy to read it just fell a little flat for me. The characters were very well written and the descriptions of Door County were spot on but there was just something lacking in the story. For the price ($9.99), this book was not a winner for me.
What a lovely and magical read! It's impossible not to care for each one of the characters as the storyline developed and blossomed. I savored every minute of it and just couldn't put it down. Please, write a sequel, Ms. Reichert!
