This book has invoked so many thoughtful, philosophical and introspective conversations between my children. We love the entire Citizen Kid series.

The ten year old friend of my nine year old daughter slept over recently, and the friend brought this book along with her. The girls spent the weekend "creating" their own country, writing its constitution, singing their anthem, designing the flag, etc. They had a FABULOUS time! Along the way, we had some really good discussions about who might want to live in their country, how their country would be ruled, and more.My daughter's friend, who is traditionally schooled, said this was her favorite book. I could easily see why. I homeschool my children, and am purchasing our own copy of the book to use in future lessons about civics and citizenship. I would recommend this book for upper elementary level children. This would be an especially good book for gifted children (like my daughter and her friend) who need creative outlets and "outside the box" academic challenges.

Easy to understand and hopefully I can be able to build a usable model in my classroom for the students to create and take ownership of their own country. I wish it would have inter-country relationships or how a country interacts with other nearby countries.

One of my favorite books to really teach kids the value of organization and what goes into developing a country.

My class of 3/4s loved it

Good book.

We used this book as a 4-week unit study in our homeschool group. Each week we would read one chapter and complete the assignments (creating a national anthem, writing laws, creating a map, etc.). We tied it into US History by discussing how each step tied into the creation of the United States (Betsy Ross making the first flag, Continental Congress, comparing the president's power to the power of the King of England over the 13 colonies). The 4th week, each child did an oral presentation of how their country would be run. GREAT BOOK!

Funny, fun and educational. Homeschoolers and teachers could easy take this book and run with it giving their 3rd - 6th graders a real eye-opener on what it takes to create, build up and run a country while absorbing facts and advice that teach about government, elections and all things related to running a country.
