These are cheap, so I didn't expect much. Just know that the images are pretty juvenile - like for a child's version of the Bible. Images on one side, titles in print on the other. But they'll do the job and I didn't have to drive to a bookstore to get 'em.

These are another delightful set of Dover bookmarks! On one side they have quotes from Romeo and Juliet, Twelfth Night, Julius Caesar, Macbeth, Othello, The Merry Wives of Windsor, King Lear, The Tempest, The Merchant of Venice, Hamlet, As You Like It, and a Midsummer Night's Dream. On the reverse side, there are nicely rendered color illustrations depicting the relevant scene. They are printed on heavy coated stock and are perforated for easy separation into 2"x6" bookmarks.I always keep two or three Dover bookmark booklets handy and I like to give them away as little gifts to my reading friends.

I love these bookmarks--they're inexpensive, simple, and relatively thin. I appreciate the images by Petruccio with the corresponding quotes on the back of each marker. Comes in a cute perforated booklet. I included a pic of my favorite quote of the set ;)

I love this bookmark series. They aren't exactly high quality, but they're cheap, you get a ton of them, and they have nice art on them. If you're the kind of person who wants bookmarks in dozens of books, then just buy a few of these Dover sets (they have many different ones).

Images are very cartoony and not worthy of Shakespeare. Buy Dovers' Stained Glass or Monet bookmarks instead.

for 2 dollars i'm really happy with these book marks. i just needed some affordable bookmarks that i could appreciate. the van gough variety were sold out so i got these and i really like them. i mean, 12 bookmarks?! :)

I love to give these to friends because I can write my greetings in them. Each bookmark is small but serves it function very well. When I need to go through a bunch of books for study, i can tear off each one as and when i need to and they do tear off very well. The print job is amazingly good for the price!

Good for a cheap bunch of bookmarks. They are kinda small, but they for my kids so that's ok. I bought them because they kept loosing the nicer, bigger, more expensive ones. For this they do the job nicely.

These bookmarks are good. They aren't sturdy plastic quality bookmarks, but they are great for someone like me who reads a lot of books and needs a lot of bookmarks. The quotes on the back are nice but the drawings could be better imo.

just acquired some mini bottles and I looked at every page to find mine and some infoso glad I bought this

I like this book because I collect miniature perfume bottles and needed a reference guide to help me identify what I have. It has lots of pictures and descriptive words to describe the bottles, their origins. Worth it.

This book was disappointing because it has an inadequate range and many famous perfumes are absent. It is frustating to read because the names of the perfumes are hidden in the text, not even in bold type and you have to hunt for them. No information about who designed the bottles in most cases.

In the war against environmentalists, battles are being won by the “neo-cons,” “wise-use” movement, the New Right, and the Browning of America. Yet, the war is being won by people speaking truth to power at every turn, people standing strong, armed with the belief that we can still leave our kids and future generations a good life in a good land. Despite the darkness of blatant greed and corruption, the will of the American people always burns bright.

In this book, journalist David Helvarg tells the story of the Wise Use Movement (WUM), one of the periodic protest movements that springs up in the American West. The WUM was a loose confederation of anti-environmental groups, linking local groups concerned about jobs in their communities with national corporations in the mining and logging industries.The book is a good read, though longer than it needs to be. It reflects Helvarg's liberalism and environmentalism that tinge his interpretations. For example, he'll take gratuitous swipes at the Reagan administration, or make irrelevant comments about abortion rights.More important, Helvarg tends sometimes toward conspiracy theories that overemphasize the role of corporate interests. As a result, he doesn't always giving credit to the real grassroots elements of the WUM, nor these locals' decisions to build an alliance with national corporations as a way to fund their own agendas. (Some of those corporations have hijacked some of these groups, of course.) But in some cases, such as Bill Grannell and People for the West, Helvarg provides a fair-minded summary of the group - - helped, no doubt, by Grannell's family history of labor organizers and his own history as a Democratic politician in Oregon.Despite the bias, Helvarg tells some important stories here. He documents anti-environmentalist violence, up to and including murder. He shows the unwillingness of the FBI to investigate these crimes or any interstate conspiracy behind them, even as the same agency pursued less-violent eco-terrorists who spiked trees and engaged in other monkeywrenching.The book was published in 1994, so it has some time capsule qualities to it for the modern reader. I haven't found any better book on the WUM, though the movement continues to attract some scholarly articles.

As a conservationist myself, I found this book rather frustrating. There is compelling subject matter but poor results. On the good side, Helvarg's investigation into the Wise Use and Property Rights movements reveals that these people are hardly acting in their own long-term interests, but instead are enslaved by unyielding hard-right ideologies. Also, this so-called "grass roots" movement actually enjoys vast funding and legal support from polluting industries and political heavies. Therefore this relatively small group of ideologues has an unfair advantage over real grass roots conservation activists, and has a hugely disproportional amount of clout on political processes and media rhetoric when it comes to environmental issues. This look into the political realities behind the movement is the most valuable aspect of this book.Unfortunately, even as a conservationist I was ultimately unsatisfied with the book, due to Helvarg's conspiratorial and fear-mongering writing style. His credibility is damaged by inflammatory language and character assassinations. Helvarg's stories of Wise Use adherents harassing, injuring, and even killing environmentalists are shocking and saddening, but unfortunately I must conclude that he has not proven that this isn't just a few bad apples, rather than an actual movement strategy. And finally, much of this book is outdated. The original text was written back in the early 1990s when the political environment was quite different. And even though the front cover says "revised and updated," Helvarg has merely added the obligatory final chapter on current developments, plus occasional transitional paragraphs and sentences in the original text that merely function as uninformative follow-ups. That makes this book an interesting period piece, but it has few ideas or solutions on how its issues apply to the current scene. [~doomsdayer520~]

I have shopped in the grocery store of parenting books since our first was born 7 years ago. We now have 3, and I was really looking forward to reading this book. The format of the book does not appeal to me. The book is based on a series of group sessions the authors had with some parents over a period of time. It's verbose, and not terribly compelling. I think it could be summarized in about 10 pages, but then their wouldn't be a book. While I find some of the "techniques" and "observations" to have merit, I don't feel they are grounded in anything but the authors experience. This is not a Carol Dweck, or an Angela Duckworth. Faber does not have a PhD in Psychology, and Mazlish did not either, at the time of her passing in 2017. I would also say much of the book is too simplistic, not realistic, and I think part of the reason is that the authors simply do not have the grounding that trained psychologists do. They spend about 2% of the book on what to do when children are physical with one another. I felt their coverage of the subject to be completely lacking. I'll keep up the search for a better book on siblings.

Arrived on time. Great book. Easy read. Practical advice. I immediatly implemented a couple of the suggestions and tantrums (from our spectum child) eased tremendously.All kids want to be heard and understood; not shut down when they show an emotion.While you can't act with out consequences this book teaches acknowledgement.

This book is truly phenomenal. I was riveted. It has helped me tremendously not only with my two children (3 and 1), but with my other family members as well. Problem solving, conflict resolution, listening, and love are all covered in this essential guide to living happily with others.

Was familiar with the authors from a previous book, this one is an absolute gold mine of information! Very well written, easy to read, sums up everything you need to know and how to apply everything and MOSTLY, IT WORKS!!!! No matter the age of the siblings - up to late adulthood - this is truly amazing information to make siblings relationship work. I loved all the many examples. I think it really cheers everything about that subject.

Amazing insights. I was terrified when I found out our upcoming child would create the same older bro younger sis dynamic I had with my brother that has been pretty traumatic. I blamed birth order but I’m reading this book I see so many ways to improve sibling relations, things I would never have thought of. It made me look at my sibling relationship very differently and realize that it’s not birth order or how many kids or rich or poor - it’s just how you raise them. Amazing book. Devoured it in 24 hrs

Beat money I have ever spent. My 3.5 y.o and 1.5 y.o daughters went from not being able to be in the same room without supervision to loving each other and playing together in a healthy way. There is still conflict between them but we deal with it in a way that doesn't create resentment. This all happened within a few days after I implemented the practices described in this book. I am reading the book again ti make sure it all stinks in!

wow, super helpful. My kids are 4 and 1 and it is useful even to me! And it's interesting looking back on having two siblings. Wish my parents would have read this book. I liked it so much I bought another book by these women.

This really changed the way I parent. If you had sibling issues as a kid, this is a must read so you don't pass that on. Things changed with the way my kids interact as well. I highly recommend it.

As a frequent visitor to Nica, I think this is a great first person review of a visit to Nica in the 80s, and a decent historical perspective from the mid 90s. Many of the things he says about Nica and its people are true. Fascinating views of the Sandinista leaders prior to the 1994 win by Chamorro. Ever Rosario Murillo shows up, in a small way.

This is an interesting book on the Nicaraguan Revolution, sometimes referred to as the Sandista, Contra issues. It is one observers view of how things were in Nicaragua during the tail end of that time. The author is not completely un-biased, nobody is, but he does do a good job of presenting what he saw there without choosing sides and is upfront about his bent. Over all a useful glimpse into an important part of that countries history.

I have lived for 2 weeks in Nicaragua last summer and fell in love with the country and its people. This book reminded me of heroic Nicaraguans and their unbelievable optimism and stamina.

Writing is like a travel log, interesting details but needs more meat on the bones. Reads like a foreigner discovering things without knowing muy beforehand.

The least favorite book I've ever read was "Fury" by Rushdie. I thought I'd give him another try: this time in non-fiction. "Jaguar" is more engaging but I didn't take away much from the book. Sure, censorship is bad. Got it. Sure, the US's preoccupation with Nicaragua was irrational. Fair enough. Other than that, the only blast of insight I took was that the Sandinista revolution was made up of (amateur) poets. The book was either too short to be really informative or mercifully short because nothing deep was coming. Just can't get behind the whole Rushdie thing.

A very good perspective on one of the most interesting countries in Latin America. It's an extremely quick read, but the point is thoroughly expressed throughout it's pages.

Not a very cheerful book, but one that tells you what happened, told by one who was there. The quality of writing is up to the usual standards of Salman Rushdie.
